Edge O’ Beyond has been on my radar (and wish lists) for a while now. They’re a relatively young UK-made indie brand known for combining jewelry and lingerie. When I saw the Esme set in previews a while back, I knew it would eventually be mine. Yes, it’s stunningly impractical, but it makes me feel like an Amazon princess ready to kick some mansplaining ass. Leather, illusion tulle/mesh, and eyelash lace are saving kryptonite!
I bought the Esme halter bra in a Medium and the matching bikini panties in an Extra-Small. The medium covers 30D/32C/34B/36A according to the size chart. I wear 26G/28FF at the moment, but I have to size down in halter brasbecause I have short roots and am high set (consult my bra fit glossary if that’s confusing). YMMV with this. Overall sizing on pieces like this is flexible. So don’t rule it out if you’re on the edge of the size range!
Goodness this set is glorious! It is real leather, so be aware that you can’t stick it in the washing machine. In fact, I’m not entirely certain that you can wash it at all beyond spot cleaning. I always wear a skin-toned thong under the panties to keep them clean. The leather is very supple, and I find it adds extra support to the halter bra. It’s lined with the beige mesh on the inside, so you don’t have to worry about it being sticky or sweaty. The “cups” have a single seam, and are fairly narrow (at least on my torso). Keep in mind that my own measurements are considerably different than what this bra was designed for, so it may fit an actual 30D quite differently than it fits me. The bra is around 9 inches (22.9 cm) tall.
From the side, Esme is pretty minimizing on me. I’m not surprised, I expect that from single seamed and wireless bras. Some of my sideboob doesn’t fit in the cups, but I don’t really care about that with fashion-lingerie like this. Esme does have a double side boning for stability in the band. Highly necessary in my opinion, because the band is made out of single layer mesh that I can’t imagine holds shape all that well. All of the elastic trim used in the Esme set is black, velvety on the inside, and rather stretchy.
I absolutely adore the adjustable band on Esme. Supposedly, this piece adjusts from a 30-36 band! Each adjustable section is 2.75 inches (7 cm) long when fully tightened and 5.5 inches (14 cm) long when fully loosened. Unstretched, it measures 25 inches (63.5 cm) to 30.5 inches (77.5 cm) in length. It is quite stretchy, so I’d say the size range is probably close to accurate if perhaps a bit on the small side. I find it stays on place for me (and I wear a 26 band), because there aren’t any straps to cause it to ride up. The gold-plated hardware adds an extra touch of luxury.
So yeah, these panties are sort of like not wearing any! TBH I’m not sure how I feel about just how sheer they are. They are a bit small on me (story of my life), but I think if I had bought them any larger the leather front section would have been baggy (it doesn’t have any stretch). I’d say these ones would be best for ladies with a less-full butt.
Overall, I’m thrilled to have bought a piece from Edge O’ Beyond. It’s always a risk to buy from new Indie designers, but I’d say this one paid off! I’ve been wearing this (the bra) all summer to festivals, and I can’t wait to transition it into my fall outfits. I highly recommend this set to my fellow leather lovers! Those with petite frames may want to size down. I’m super behind on reviews right now (hello start of the semester) but hopefully I’ll have more for you soon!
